(01)
Project overview.
Industry: Healthcare / Medical Education (Pathology)
A well-established Medical Academy in North America—dedicated to advancing the field of pathology through education, professional development, and research dissemination—engaged PM2NET to strengthen network security and modernize secure access management. The initiative focused on improving perimeter protection and enabling reliable, secure remote access for users while maintaining alignment with security standards and best practices.

(02)
Challenge.
The Academy needed to enhance its network security posture and remote-access experience without introducing friction for end users. Key priorities included:
Hardening perimeter defenses: Ensuring the firewall was properly configured and optimized to reduce exposure to threats.
Establishing consistent access controls: Implementing and refining FortiSASE access policies for secure remote connectivity.
Improving usability and operational efficiency: Validating configurations and streamlining user onboarding to reduce support burden and speed adoption.
Secure remote access enablement: Implementing SSL VPN access with clear policies to protect sensitive systems and data.
(03)
Result.
PM2NET configured and optimized the Academy’s firewall, then reviewed settings to confirm alignment with security standards. The team implemented and fine-tuned access controls in the FortiSASE portal and tested the FortiSASE setup with an emphasis on smoother user onboarding. PM2NET also partnered with the client to configure SSL VPN on the firewall and establish secure remote-access policies. Together, these improvements delivered stronger network protection, more controlled remote access, improved operational efficiency, and a more resilient security and access management foundation for the organization’s ongoing mission and growth.
