Project overview.

A California-based public sector correctional agency needed to complete a large-scale network infrastructure upgrade across a complex operational environment. The agency supports correctional facilities, rehabilitation services, parole operations, education programs, and vocational training initiatives throughout the state, making reliable connectivity essential to daily operations.

PM2 NET was engaged to support the physical deployment and integration of new network infrastructure. The project included racking and stacking 338 Aruba 48-port switches, migrating existing switch connections, patching cables, installing power supplies and SFP transceivers, and connecting new hardware to existing UPS devices where applicable.

Through careful planning, field execution, and coordination, PM2 NET helped the agency transition to a more stable and efficient network environment while minimizing disruption to critical public sector operations.

Challenge.

The agency faced the operational pressure of upgrading a large network environment without interrupting the systems that support correctional management, rehabilitation services, public safety operations, and administrative workflows.

The work required disciplined field execution across several technical tasks. PM2 NET needed to rack and stack 338 Aruba 48-port switches, migrate existing switch connections to the new hardware, patch cabling, install power supplies and SFP transceivers, and ensure new equipment was properly connected to existing UPS devices where available.

The scale of the upgrade created several friction points:

  • A high volume of network hardware needed to be deployed accurately and consistently.

  • Existing switch connections had to be migrated with minimal disruption.

  • Cabling, power, and transceiver installation required careful sequencing.

  • Equipment placement had to support accessibility, maintainability, and future upgrades.

  • Network resilience depended on proper power and backup integration.

  • The agency needed a reliable partner capable of managing complex field services in a sensitive public sector environment.

PM2 NET assessed the existing infrastructure needs, reviewed the facility layout, and developed a structured deployment approach. The team planned the physical placement of the switches, organized the migration of existing connections, and executed the hardware installation with attention to stability, continuity, and future serviceability.

Result.

PM2 NET completed the infrastructure upgrade with a focus on stability, continuity, and operational reliability. The agency gained a more dependable network foundation to support critical public sector functions, including correctional operations, rehabilitation programs, parole services, and administrative systems.

The new Aruba switches, properly patched cabling, configured power supply connections, installed SFP transceivers, and UPS integration helped strengthen the performance and resilience of the network environment. PM2 NET’s planning and execution reduced the risk of downtime during the migration and supported a smoother transition for the agency’s day-to-day operations.

The engagement gave the agency a cleaner, more maintainable infrastructure foundation. With improved hardware organization and a more stable network environment, the agency is better positioned to support current operational demands and future infrastructure needs.
