Project overview.
A public biotechnology firm in San Francisco needed support for a critical server and virtualization deployment. The company produces synthesized DNA and DNA derivatives for clients across healthcare, horticulture, industrial chemicals, and information storage. Its work depends on precision, security, and operational continuity, supported by ISO 13485:2016 quality management certification and ISO 27001:2013 information security certification.
The client required onsite installation support for servers, operating systems, Active Directory, DHCP, and a virtual machine environment. PM2NET provided a hybrid delivery model: an onsite Smart Hands resource handled the physical installation, while an experienced remote network engineer led the Veeam and server configuration work.
This engagement connected physical infrastructure, virtualization, backup resilience, and remote engineering into one coherent deployment path.

(02)
Challenge.
The client had the internal capability to handle part of the remediation, but the physical installation layer created friction. Their existing cabling partner was responsible for onsite work at the required locations, yet lacked the technical depth needed to support the server configuration process.
The deeper issue was coordination across multiple infrastructure layers. The environment required accurate installation, server readiness, storage access, management connectivity, DNS and DHCP configuration, VMware preparation, and reliable backup testing. Any gap in that sequence could compromise availability or delay the client’s internal remediation work.PM2NET’s scope included:
Cisco server installation
Rack and stack support
Veeam VBR server configuration
Storage access configuration
ILO or IPMI connection for management
vCenter appliance installation
Veeam backup installation and configuration
Backup enablement for the VMware environment
DNS and DHCP entry configuration for the new VMware environment
Backup and restore testing through Veeam

(03)
Result.
PM2NET delivered a stable hybrid deployment that gave the client a functional VMware environment supported by DNS, DHCP, storage access, management connectivity, and Veeam backup protection.
The completed configuration strengthened operational resilience by allowing virtual machines to be restored quickly from backup when needed. Veeam’s virtualization-focused backup architecture gave the client a more flexible recovery model than legacy physical-world backup tools. If a VM failed, it could be restarted on another host while full recovery continued in the background, reducing disruption for users and the organization.
This is important because the client’s work depends on precision, uptime, and trust. PM2NET helped transform a fragmented installation challenge into a coordinated infrastructure outcome, aligning onsite execution with remote engineering expertise and giving the biotechnology team a stronger foundation for secure, reliable operations.
