Project overview.

Modernized and standardized a 15-campus K–8 school district network by upgrading switching, fiber backbone, and network closets to improve performance, reliability, and scalability with minimal disruption. PM2Net successfully modernized and standardized the district’s network infrastructure across 15 campuses, improving reliability, performance, and capacity while positioning the district to better support technology-driven learning in a multi-site educational environment.

Challenge.

The district supports 15 schools (10 elementary, 5 middle) and needed a dependable, consistent network to meet growing educational technology demands. However, the existing environment presented multiple issues:

Outdated network infrastructure across multiple sites

Inconsistent performance and reliability

Limited capacity for increasing device and application needs

Complex multi-site deployment requiring minimal disruption to school operations

Lack of standardization across campuses

Legacy 62.5-micron fiber backbone requiring modernization to 50-micron

(03)

Result.

PM2Net performed a comprehensive assessment and delivered a district-wide upgrade and standardization plan, including:

Implementation scope

Installed and configured 113 new 48-port Ethernet switches with additional fiber ports

Consolidated and replaced 63 wall-mount network cabinets

Migrated existing connections to the new switching infrastructure

Upgraded the fiber backbone from 62.5-micron to 50-micron

Reconfigured wired and wireless network elements across all locations

Modernization: Deployed Layer 3-capable, PoE+ switches to significantly enhance network capability

Standardization: Implemented a consistent design across all campuses for uniform performance and simpler management

Capacity increase: Expanded port density and switching capacity to support current and future technology use

Minimal disruption: Executed the multi-site rollout efficiently to reduce downtime during school operations

Future-proofing: Upgraded to 50-micron fiber to support higher-bandwidth applications

Expert delivery: Cisco- and HP-certified professionals ensured accurate migration and configuration

Results / Advantages

Improved performance and reliability across all 15 sites

Increased capacity for modern educational technologies

Standardized infrastructure for easier management and troubleshooting

Greater scalability for future growth and adoption

Improved energy efficiency with modern PoE+ switching

Simplified topology through cabinet consolidation
